Hartford Stage announces auditions for children ages 5-13
Hartford Stage will hold auditions for children of all ethnic backgrounds, ages 5-13 years old for the Tony Award-winning theater’s production of A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas. The beloved production returns after a 3-year hiatus. Inaugurated in 1998 by former Hartford Stage Artistic Director Michael Wilson, the show has quickly grown to be enjoyed by tens of thousands of adults and children annually. Wilson is returning to Hartford Stage to direct the 2023 production.
Auditions will be held in Hartford on Monday, July 31 and Tuesday, August 1 from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Callbacks for some roles will be held onFriday, August 4 from 3pm-6pm. Auditions are by appointment only, and there are a limited number of appointments available. In preparation, children must prepare a monologue, poem, or speech that is under 1 minute long. Please also prepare to sing a few bars of a song, preferably a Christmas carol or other holiday song, a cappella (without piano accompaniment). Children should wear something casual and comfortable. Please bring a recent photograph (does not have to be a professional headshot) and short bio or resume. Children must be between the ages of 5-13. They may not turn 14 years of age until after December 24, 2023.
Please note that rehearsals begin Tuesday, October 24. Rehearsals are held Tuesday through Sunday. Performances are Friday, November 24 through Sunday, December 24. Please be aware that participating in this production will require your child to miss some school. Hartford Stage will provide your child with a letter outlining the commitment that can be shared with their school. Youth actors will receive a small honorarium for their participation in the production.
