Connecticut Sun

Uncasville, CT (May 4, 2022) – The Connecticut Sun announced today that the team has waived forwards Stephanie Jones and Beatrice Mompremier. Mompremier was originally drafted 20th overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. She was waived by the Sparks and signed with the Sun on June 23, 2020. Jones went undrafted in 2021, but signed a training camp contract with Connecticut and made the roster for the 2021 season. 

During the 2021 season, Mompremier played in all 32 regular season games for the Sun. She averaged 1.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.1% from the field. Mompremier grabbed her 100th career rebound in the game against Chicago on 6/19/21 and tallied her 100th career point in a win over New York on 9/15/21. In her first season with Connecticut playing in the bubble, she appeared in 21 of the 22 regular season contests and played in all seven of the playoff games. In 187 minutes of action during her rookie season, Mompremier recorded 48 points, 70 rebounds and 13 blocked shots. She notched a career-high seven points on two occasions and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds against Las Vegas on 9/3/20.

In her rookie campaign, Jones played in 18 games and tallied a total of 99 minutes with the Sun during the 2021 season. She notched 25 points, 22 rebounds and made 12 field goals. Jones recorded a career high five points and five rebounds in the regular season win against Atlanta on 9/19/21 and played a career high 16 minutes against Indiana on 5/19/21. In the Sun’s lone preseason game in 2022 against Atlanta, Jones had 11 points and one rebound in 13 minutes off the bench.
