Women’s Basketball Announce Trio of Signees
Central Connecticut women’s basketball interim head coach Kerri Reaves has announced the addition of three student-athletes for the 2022-23 season. Tatiana Brown, Brooke Lechleitner, and Cierra Pearson will join the Blue Devils for the upcoming season.
Brown is a 6-foot-1 power forward from Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, VA. She played for head coach Ebony Cherry and averaged 18.0 points and 15.0 rebounds. A honor roll student in the classroom, she was a First Team All-Conference selection and was named MVP at the She Got Game Tournament. Brown played AAU basketball for Foundation Academy and was team MVP.
“Tatiana is a gifted player and has the versatility on the offensive end to score both with her back to the basket as well as facing up,” said Reaves. “She also has very good three-point range and defensively, her toughness and ability to rebound the ball should make an immediate impact. She is a tireless worker both on and off the court.”
Lechleitner is a 6-foot wing from Lake Holcombe School District High School in Lake Holcombe, WI. She played for head coach Jennifer Lechleitner and averaged 17.0 points and 13.0 rebounds. A honor roll student in the classroom, she scored over 1,300 career points and was an honorable mention All-State choice as a senior. She was a four-time All-Conference selection, a three-time All-County pick and was named All-Area First Team during all four years. Lechleitner also earned All-Northwest Region honors and was named one of the top five Defensive Players of the Year in Wisconsin as a senior. A standout on the Team Wisconsin Select AAU squad she was tabbed one of the Top 20 Prospects in Wisconsin by PrepGirlsHoops.
“We are elated to have Brooke joining our family,” Reaves said. “She is an extremely versatile player who will contribute on both ends of the floor. She is a big, strong, guard and plays with a physicality and toughness that our team will benefit from. We are looking for Brooke to make an immediate impact in our program both on and off the floor.”
Pearson is a 5-foot-8 guard from Saddle River Day School in Saddle River, NJ. She played for head coach Danny Brown and was a two-year captain, helping her team win a pair of Bergen County championships. She averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks. She led her team to a runner-up finish in the NJ state championship in 2019 and was named All-County First Team during her high school career. Pearson was a Honor Roll student and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She also played for the NYC Gauchos AAU program.
“We are very fortune that Cierra chose to be a member of our CCSU women’s basketball family,” said Reaves. “She is a talented scorer from both of the guard spots with deep three-point range. Her size and quickness create a number of opportunities for her to be successful on both ends of the court. She has a quiet confidence about her that is infectious.”
